Belz Receives Student Leadership Award
The Cockrell School of Engineering has recognized undergraduate student Franz Belz with a 2017 Student Leadership Award.

He was recognized for his involvement in numerous organizations.
Belz serves as a peer advisor for AEMB, the biomedical engineering honor society, where he provides academic and career counseling to underclassmen, and as co-chair of the Department of Biomedical Engineering’s Undergraduate Advisory Board.
He also created a liaison position within Dell Medical School to provide extra-departmental experience to biomedical engineering students and to help organize medical volunteer opportunities. Belz also co-founded the Bringing Mental Education to UT Austin campaign, which was responsible for hosting gratitude week activities to coincide with Thanksgiving.
Outside the classroom, Belz is one of four captains on the men’s soccer team, and he maintains the team’s website in his role as webmaster.
