Extraordinary People
Our faculty community contributes to the international conversation in the biomedical field. Our researchers are recognized for their achievements by the National Academy of Engineering, National Academy of Medicine and National Academy of Inventors, among other prestigious organizations. They routinely receive funding and further discovery in areas such as cancer treatment, drug delivery, computational modeling, immunology, imaging and instrumentation technologies and fundamental science.
We attract undergraduate students who graduate in the top 3 percent of their class and recruit graduate students with an average GPA of 3.84.
World Class Opportunities
At the undergraduate level, our student population participate in research and robust study abroad programs. At the graduate level, students lead research in some of the world’s premier labs, with numerous opportunities to develop through industry interactions, conferences, and our seminar series.
Robust Facilities
Our state-of-the-art facilities provide students with the latest in lab equipment and technology ideal for hands-on learning both in the Biomedical Engineering Building, which opened in 2008, and the newly constructed Engineering Education and Research Center (EERC). Students have opportunities to partner with faculty and physicians at the Dell Medical School and across The University of Texas at Austin.
Students and researchers have access to powerful computing facilities including UT Austin’s Texas Advanced Computing Center, home to one of the most powerful super computers in the U.S.
