Research Focus
Developing sustainable diagnostic solutions for global health disparities.
Research Interests
Nuttada Panpradist is particularly focused on emphasizing accessibility and sustainability in diagnostics for low-resource settings with a holistic engineering approach and strong interdisciplinary collaborations, including with local medical centers and the Dell Medical School. Utilizing a technology transfer approach to promote equitable research, Panpradist aims to transform the typical trajectory of medical technologies by engaging with historically marginalized communities and researchers. Furthermore, she is interested in the interconnection between human health, animal health, and environmental safety, addressing food and water safety through integrated technology platforms. Her research also explores a hybrid testing model that shifts certain diagnostic tasks from technicians to patients to make molecular testing more sustainable and patient friendly. Lastly, her lab is working with synthetic biology tools like DNA logic circuits and engineered phages to create novel diagnostic applications. These include developing sensitive detection methods for HIV drug resistance and new biosensors for detecting bacterial proteases in conditions like sepsis.
