The Undergraduate Research Fellowship program provides support for specific scholarly research projects conducted by full-time UT undergraduate students enrolled in any department.

The University Co-operative Society generously funds the URF Program, along with additional funds from the Student Government and University colleges and schools.

This competition provides support for scholarly research projects conducted by UT Austin undergraduate students. Fellowships are intended to cover costs associated with independent research projects proposed and written by student applicants and undertaken under the supervision of a University tenured or tenure-track faculty member, lecturer, senior lecturer, or full-time research scientist/engineer.

A total of 112 URFs were awarded in fall 2008. 26 were awarded within the Cockrell School of Engineering, 15 of which were Biomedical Engineering students!
