Raiyan Zaman, who received her Ph.D. in biomedical engineering from The University of Texas at Austin in 2011, has been chosen as a finalist for the Melvin Judkins Young Investigator Award presented by the American Heart Association's Council on Cardiovascular Radiology and Intervention.

Raiyan Zaman, who received her Ph.D. in biomedical engineering from The University of Texas at Austin in 2011, has been chosen as a finalist for the Melvin Judkins Young Investigator Award presented by the American Heart Association's Council on Cardiovascular Radiology and Intervention. Finalists are recognized on their early career research and promotion of careers in cardiovascular radiology.

Zaman, an AHA postdoctoral fellow at the Stanford School of Medicine, submitted her manuscript titled "Atherosclerotic Plaque Detection with a Fluorescence/Radionuclide Intravascular Imaging System for 18F-FDG and 6-NBDG." Five finalists were chosen after submitting their original works.

The oral abstract competition will be held on Sunday, November 17th in Dallas, Texas. Participants will be judged on their 10-minute presentations.
