TITLE: "A New Look For Bladder Cancer Detection"

ABSTRACT: Bladder cancer poses a significant health and economic burden, being the 4th most common cancer in men and the costliest to treat over a patient’s lifetime. Its high recurrence rate, exceeding 50%, contributes significantly to this burden. Current in-office surveillance tools have limited sensitivity and specificity for CIS, a crucial high-grade carcinoma with a propensity for metastasis. To address these limitations, we propose a paradigm shift in BC surveillance by validating new, highly sensitive and specific inoffice tools for CIS detection. My talk will discuss the technical advancements required to make OCT and PS-OCT practical for in-office use, along with promising results from recent studies on human bladder samples.
