Honors went to Dr. Lisa Brannon-Peppas who was awarded the annual National Instruments Teaching Excellence Award for Biomedical Engineering faculty for the excellent work she has done in developing and teaching the BME lab courses. (Web sites for the lab courses: BME 221, BME 251) John Hanks, a graduate of the BME program in 1989 and a director at National Instruments, presented Dr. Brannon-Peppas with a plaque and a check for $1000.

Honors also went to BME doctoral student, Jignesh Shah, who was presented the award for Outstanding Teaching Assistant for 2004 for his excellent student evaluation ratings by Dr. Krishnendu Roy, the BME Graduate Advisor. His ratings demonstrated consistently high performance and included written remarks such as "you're my hero." Jignesh is a polite individual who likes students, genuinely cares about their progress and well-being, and does the best he can to deliver quality teaching to our undergraduates. The Department is pleased to present him with a certificate and cash award of $300.
