Chinedu Anyaeji has been accepted to the National Institutes of Health Academy, a post baccalaureate biomedical research program for recent college graduates with an interest in domestic health disparities, differences in the frequency or severity of diseases, and other adverse health conditions among populations in the U.S. The academy limits size to a class of just 16 members each year.
Chinedu, who will graduate in May, will spend one to two years working side-by-side with NIH investigators in an environment devoted exclusively to biomedical research. He will receive a stipend and conduct research in Bethesda, Maryland.
His long-term plans include attending medical school and tackling discrepancies in diseases that exist not only at the domestic level but also on a global scale. These goals are in part motivated by Chinedu’s time growing up in Nigeria.
