Four Biomedical Engineering graduate students were presented with awards at the annual Graduate and Industry Networking (GAIN) event held on February 23 at the Etter-Harbin Alumni Center.

Four Biomedical Engineering graduate students were presented with awards at the annual Graduate and Industry Networking (GAIN) event held on February 23 at the Etter-Harbin Alumni Center. Mary Caldorera-Moore (Roy Group) received a Most Innovative Research Award for her oral presentation and paper on the “Development of Shape Specific, Stimuli-Responsive Drug Delivery Nanocarriers Using Step and Flash Imprint Lithography.”

Krista Fridley (Roy Group) received the second prize Best Oral Presentation Award for her presentation titled “Bioreactor Culture Comparison for Hematopoietic Differentiation of Embryonic Stem Cells.”

Lonnissa Hong Nguyen (Roy Group) received a Most Innovative Research Award in all research categories for her oral presentation and poster titled “ECM Mimicking Hydrogel Scaffolds for Efficient Differentation of Bone Marrow Stromal cells into Various Zones of Articular Cartilage.”

Adrien Ponticorvo (Dunn Group) received the second prize General Electric Research Award in all research categories for presenting his poster entitled “Simultaneous Imaging of Oxygen Concentration and Blood Flow During Stroke Using a Digital Micromirror Device.”

Over 40 students representing all departments within the Cockrell School of Engineering participated in the GAIN event, which is organized by the Graduate Engineering Council.
