Graduate student Yuan-I (Nina) Chen has been awarded the 2018 Student Research Achievement Award from the Biophysical Society.
She was recognized for her poster presentation at the society's annual meeting in San Francisco earlier this month. Chen's poster, titled "Measuring oligonucleotide hybridization kinetics in solution using a time-resolved 3D single-molecule tracking technique," won in the category of Nanoscale Biophysics.
Chen's poster presented her research on measuring small nucleic acids using a 3D single-molecule tracking technique and developing new tools to potentially study other molecular interactions or transformation kinetics.
She works with Professor Tim Yeh in the NanoBiosensors and Molecular Tracking Lab. The lab's research focuses on creating and studying new nanomaterials that have the potential to be used as future molecular probes and developing new imaging tools for fundamental biomedical research at the single-molecule, single-cell level.
