Dr. Laura Suggs and Dr. John Zhang are among the latest recipients of the National Science Foundation’s (NSF) most prestigious award in support of junior faculty, the Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) Award. Dr. Suggs received the award for: "Designing Embryonic Stem Cell Culture Systems Based on Developmental Microenvironments in the Heart", and Dr. Zhang for: “Nano-plasmonic Scanning Probe and Microsystems forControlled Genetic Perturbation”.

Recipients of the CAREER award "exemplify the role of teacher-scholars through outstanding research, excellent education and the integration of education and research within the context of the mission of their organizations."
