Emily Chen, an undergraduate in the Biomedical Engineering Department and Plan II Honors Program, was recently presented with a 2010 Cockrell School of Engineering Student Leadership Award.
Emily Chen, an undergraduate in the Biomedical Engineering Department and Plan II Honors Program, was recently presented with a 2010 Cockrell School of Engineering Student Leadership Award.
Established in 1970 by the Student Engineering Council, this college-wide award honors students who have provided outstanding services to the Cockrell School community. Representatives from various Cockrell School student organizations selected Emily for the award. In considering nominations, the selection committee took into account organizational leadership, school service, innovation and scholarship.
Chen serves as the president of the Student Engineering Council where she has led efforts in recycling and sustainability on behalf of the Cockrell School. One of her endeavors involved creating the school’s Electronic Waste Drive, which has become an annual event. Additionally Chen serves as the student coordinator of LeaderShape Texas, where she facilitates a week-long experience for undergraduates on leading with integrity.
