Nicholas A Peppas, the Fletcher Stuckey Pratt Professor of Biomedical Engineering, was awarded the 2005 Distinguished Scientist Award from the Houston Society for Engineering in Medicine and Biology (HSEMB). This is the third time in the twenty-year history of this organization that this award was given. The award was presented at the Annual Awards Luncheon of HSEMB in Houston on February 10, 2005. Peppas was recognized for distinguished contributions to the field of biomedical engineering.
Peppas, who has been at UT since January 2003, has made significant contributions to the fields of biomaterials, drug delivery, pharmacokinetics, arteriosclerosis, mass transfer in biomedical systems, and mathematical modelling of biomedical engineering phenomena.
