The American Society for Laser Medicine & Surgery has awarded Manu Sharma with the A. Ward Ford Memorial Grant. Sharma is a postdoctoral fellow working in Professor James Tunnell’s lab. The $70,000 award will cover one year’s worth of salary, research, and travel funds for Sharma, who is working on developing a multi-modal spectroscopic system for early skin cancer detection.
Sharma’s research intends to improve standard patient diagnosis of skin cancer by introducing a tool with improved accuracy that could be operated by non-specialists affordably and in real time.
