Graduate student David Li and research scientist Joao Soares won best poster at the Functional Imaging and Modeling of the Heart (FIMH) Conference in Toronto. Li and Soares work with Professor Michael Sacks in the Center for Cardiovascular Simulation.

From a field of more than 20 posters, their poster Modeling of Myocardium Compressibility and its Impact in Computational Simulations of the Healthy and Infarcted Heart received top honors.

The conference, an international biennial scientific event, aims to integrate the state of the art research and novel development efforts in the fields of cardiovascular imaging, image analysis and heart modelling. The main goal is to encourage collaboration among students, junior and senior scientists working in signal and image processing, imaging, applied mathematics, biophysics, biomedical engineering, and experts in cardiology, radiology, biology and physiology.
