James Salazar, an undergraduate student in the Department of Biomedical Engineering, is one of three seniors from The University of Texas at Austin to receive a Texas Exes President's Leadership Award.

James Salazar, an undergraduate student in the Department of Biomedical Engineering, is one of three seniors from The University of Texas at Austin to receive a Texas Exes President's Leadership Award. The Texas Exes created the President's Leadership Awards in 1985 with an endowment from past Texas Exes president Frank Denius. These awards recognize undergraduate students who have demonstrated outstanding leadership within the student community at The University of Texas.
Salazar has participated with numerous student organizations, often in leadership roles, including Beta Mu Epsilon, a biomedical engineering honor society; Biomedical Outreach and Leadership Team (BOLT); the BME Student Giving Campaign Committee; the Biomedical Engineering Undergraduate Advisory Board, (BME-UAB); and Student Engineers Educating Kids (SEEK), among others.
Salazar will graduate in May and will attend medical school at University of California, San Francisco in the fall of 2013.
