Grace Fletcher, an undergraduate student in Professor Nicholas Peppas' lab, was the recipient of the third prize in the undergraduate poster paper competition at the Society for Biomaterials' Biomaterials Day meeting.
The Biomaterials Day was held at Rice University on Friday, July 27, 2012.
In 2008, the Society for Biomaterials began hosting Biomaterials Days as opportunities for student chapters of the organization to highlight cutting edge student research and increase interest in the biomaterials field. Biomaterials Days enhance networking between academic, industrial, and government sectors and increase student exposure to exciting biomaterials research. The Rice University event included three keynote lectures and several presentations by engineers, physicians, and scientists in the field. Two of the three keynote lectures were given by professors associated with the Department of Biomedical Engineering: Department Chair Nicholas A. Peppas, a full-time professor, and Joseph Salamone, an adjunct professor.
