Raiyan Zaman, who received her Ph.D. in biomedical engineering from The University of Texas at Austin in 2011, received the "Best in Physics" award from the American Association of Physicists in Medicine.

She received the award for her paper: A Novel Catheter-Based Radionuclide Imaging System to Characterize Atherosclerotic Plaque.

This award is given to presentations those scoring highest in the abstract review process and judged by the AAPM's scientific program directors to reflect the highest level of quality and innovation.

Zaman is an American Heart Association postdoctoral fellow at the Stanford University School of Medicine where she is developing a catheter-based imaging system to detect vulnerable plaques. She will present her research at the AAPM's 56th Annual Meeting in Austin, Texas, July 20–24.
