Sandra Zhi, a BME senior graduating in 2017, was a finalist for this year’s First-Year Interest Group (FIG) Facilitator Award.
Sandra is a peer mentor for a FIG in the Department of Biomedical Engineering. In her role as a student mentor, she helps plan FIG seminars, interacts with first-year students and helps first-years transition from high school to university life.
Zhi was one of three students for the FIG Facilitator Award, a highly competitive award within The University of Texas at Austin. The students Sandra mentored nominated her and said she provided a good support system for students adjusting to college life.
